Our Family

Thirty-four and a half years ago I came home on leave from Viet Nam.
I was staying at my Dad house in Riverside, Calif.
I had been writing this wonderful young girl while in Nam. She lived about
Two hundred and ten miles north of Riverside, in a town called Visalia.
I had been home for about one week when I decided to give this sweet
young lady a call. I was invited up for a visit. I must tell you that about
Four or five months prior to my coming home, I had purchased a very
Beautiful wedding and engagement set and mailed them to this lovely
Young girl asking her if she would like to become engaged. She accepted.
Anyway, upon arriving in town by bus, I called her phone number. Her
Mother came and picked me up at the bus station and said that she
Would take me to see Sissy. We arrived at her place of employment, and
I walked in through the double doors of the local K-mart store. About ten
Steps into the store I heard a loud scream coming from the rear of the store.
The scream came from this young lady that I had came over two hundred
Miles to see. I stayed at work with her until she got off. I thought to myself,
The pictures that this girl had sent to me didnt do her any justice at all.
I stayed at her parents house for almost a week before I told her that we
Were going to get married the following Friday. We did all the things that we
Needed to get done, so we could get married on Friday, September 15,1967.
We had to travel back to Riverside so that my Dad could sign for me to get
Married. Finally at 11:30 on Friday morning we were walking into the
Courthouse in Chino, California, with my Dad stepping high, and Ermas
Mother and Father along to witness this event, I approached the clerk and
Told her that I wanted to get married. We were told to have a seat and she
Would check to see if the Judge had time to perform the ceremony. This
Clerk was back before the door that she had walked through had even closed.
We were introduced to the Judge. After giving us a lecture on the importance
Of this step and telling us that marriage was a life long commitment, we were
Finally married. We walked out of the courthouse on cloud nine.
We said goodbye to my new in-laws and they started their long drive back home.
After about two weeks of marriage our car radiator blew up scalding me
With third degree burns. The Red Cross got my leave extended for three more
Weeks. I finally went back to Viet Nam, to finish my extended tour. I had a
Very hard time keeping my thoughts together while doing the things that I was
Needed to do. Finally the day came that I was going home. Aye, I had beaten
The odds I was getting on that big silver bird and I was going to fly across
That great big pond to be with my new bride again.

I was finally discharged on 29 April 1970. We had our first baby in January,
It was a Boy. I just had to get a job. Then in October 1971, we had our second
Baby, a boy. Still no girls.. I was told time and again that God knows best.
Well here it is 2002, almost mid year and we now still have the two boys but
We also have two daughters-in-law, one grand daughter and two grandsons.
We also have many who have adopted us as their parents or grandparents.
Erma and I were talking today and we both agree that God has blessed us
really big time. Job, lost his entire family and was blessed with a much larger one,
and was also blessed with many other things.
We are blessed with good health, a good family and a whole family of forgotten
children orphaned in India also we were blessed with missionaries in Africa.
God will bless those who serve him.
God is ever so faithful in answering prayers.
To our many children around the world I pray for your safekeeping and that you
will never forget to Praise Jesus, and to give him Praise Him in all things.
Jesus is the light of this world, so keep his fire glowing in your souls.
Remember, all things are possible through Christ, he gives us strength.

If you ask anything in his name he will do it.

Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED!!

God Bless,
Bulldog
